I want to be able to prevent leakage of urine when laughing, sneezing or coughing but I dont want to do any surgery. The Kegals dont work for me or maybe I am not doing it right. I am 32 and I have 1 child.
nope, no medications will tighten up that sphincter, only the kegels will do that, and they must be done religiously to have any effect. I too had the same problem after two children, and while I still do kegels religiously, I finally opted for the surgery, it really wasn’t that big a deal.

Our vet just told us that our cat has bladder stones. What is that? What is best treatment? Any alternatives?
Our vet suggests a surgery which cost $2K but crystals may come back in 6 mos. depending on type of crystal.
Hello,
My cat has had troubles with these very same problems. Crystals, bladder stones, and infections in his urine and what not.
He got to a point a little while ago where I was told he would have to have surgery to remove the stones. Another vet that worked with my other vet started him on a special diet food SD science diet wet and dry for 1 month, and it worked liked a charm. He did not have to end up having the surgery and he eventually was able to get rid of the stones and all of the other troubles.
He does still have to be on a special diet, and probably for the rest of his life, but this is to prevent any troubles from happening again or at least try too. There are options, you just have to ask and see what your vet says. My kitty is also on a Chinese herb for crystals and prevention as an extra boost of protection. It is helping like a charm.
A great food for crystals and prevention is FELIDAE. You always want to buy good healthy foods from natural pet food stores rather than the typical store brand food. Store brands are bad awful food. They are loaded with so much garbage it’s ridiculous. Food plays a huge role in cat troubles and especially what’s going on with yours.
You want a food that is low in ash, magnesium, fat, protein etc for a kitty that has these issues. It will help. Felidae is a great food for that! So is California Naturals. It’s low in these areas and helps too.
The stones develop usually due to the many crystals, and the crystals form due to the infection in the urine, and infection can sometimes form from anything and or certain foods. It depends. If you are able to prevent infections from happening which is sometimes hard, the better.
Cats sometimes just get infections and have things happen, that’s why it’s best to always keep an extra watch on them, and do what you can to help. Things just happen, but don’t worry, all will be well.
Try finding a good food that will help with your kitty, but for right now you’ve got to get those stones cleared up. Your kitty needs a special diet like SD wet and dry. However, ask your vet first. Your kitties stones may be to the point to where the food won’t help. That is a possibility, but ask. My kitty was told there was no other option but surgery, but the food worked. It just depends.
Best of luck….
Incontinence products in Scandinavia? Where can I find information about this?
I am looking for INCONTINENCE PRODUCTS (exp: Vaginal Cones, etc) in any of the Scandinavian countries.
(BeNeLux countries may work as well)
Please give me hints or any info where I can look for such items.
Many thanks
One thing you can do is to contact the manufacturers of the products such as if you have the name of a particular vaginal cone. When you go to their website click on a section that should say, "Contact Us" and then check to see if they have a listing for countries that have offices for the manufacturers in those countries. Check to see if there’s an e-mail address listed and then you can send a note to them to let them know what you are looking for and where you are located.
(commenting on another question previously asked) Should bathroom accomodations be made for transsexuals?
If you were a transsexual and you didn’t "pass" so well, per se, but you still have a strong identity towards the gender you choose to present as, and as such, wish to use the bathroom that corresponds to that gender..do you think it would be easier to have unisex bathrooms made available in public buildings for this purpose? That way the transsexual person doesn’t have to be harassed about "walking into the wrong bathroom". I myself am a female to male transsexual, and before my facial hair started appearing, I don’t know HOW many times I got told by women that I was in the WRONG bathroom. (now I just use the men’s) But..this would also be useful to people who would like a little privacy as well. Say for example, people with colostomy bags, urostomy bags, people who wear adult diapers for incontinence, ect… what do you all think?
You all are saying this is impractical, however if you add in the other people that have medical reasons for needing a private bathroom as well, it becomes NOT so impractical.
Unisex bathrooms work in other countries why not here in the USA. It really would not cost that much to change from having a men’s & a women’s restroom on each floor of most office buildings to having a unisex bathroom at least on every other floor. We don’t have to have separate restrooms just for gender different persons. We would just like to be able to use a restroom without being in danger.
I’ve got an old dog that’s started drinking a lot more water in the last few weeks, and also going to the bathroom in the house. At first we thought it was separation anxiety, but today we notices that urine is leaking out of her when she is laying down. Any suggestions?
It could be a UTI, but spay incontinence is not uncommon in older dogs – I had an old dog who was incontinent for the last two years of her life. She spend most of her time outside, so I just kept her off the carpet and cleaned up after her when she was inside.
Sometimes the vet can give the dog hormones which will help, and they do make "panties" for dogs that can be used for incontinence.
I would take her to the vet and have her checked in case it is an infection or diabetes (drinking a lot can be a symptom) and see what he says.

I hope this is what you were looking for,

i am going or my first urologist visit regarding bladder/stress incontinence and i was wondering what exactly to expect. he is a male doctor and i am a female, so i was wondering i this was similar to a gyno appointment. basically what exactly he is going to do…
Very similar. A urine test, background questions (how long, how often, how much), what you have tried, how much it helped, then a physical exam of the area. Expect exercises, possibly an offer of medication (ask about side effects) and possibly discussion on surgical options. Hang in there!
Has needing to wear incontinence protection effected, positively or negatively, the relationship you share with your kids, or your spouse? Are they embarrassed by you, do they know, does your relationship as a father/mother differ from that of someone who is not incontinent? Thank You
my mother had this problem but it never effected her relationship with her children (there are7 of us) or with our step father who loved her to the day we lost her.
The only difference was we bought her bigger purses so she could carry what she needed when she was out and on loner rips we stopped more often.
But there is know reason it should effect their lives or how people feel or treat them
What is the average time to pass kidney or bladder stones after sonic pulverization?
Ive recently been diagnosed with bladder stones. Yuck! Id like to know an average cost of the underwater sonic treatment also…Im sure it varies but if someone can give me a ballpark figure …like 5,000.00 or 1200.00.. also if anyone has had the treatment on bladder stones …how long did it take before you finished passing all of them…ive got alot of stones….almost full actually..:(
some times it works and some times it doesn’t on average it took a week, but i have gone through 11 of them the best choice would be to try this product my doctor gave me and i started passing them within hours of taking it its called TheraLithXR the number to order it is 1800-449-4447 and it only costs $30 for 3 months supply ask your doctor about it you dont need a prescription to get it
