I’m 19 and a guy and it seems like I’m constantly dripping a little, i don’t feel it and its not a lot, just always have a small wet spot in my underwear, also after urinating if i sit down after like on a chair i can feel a little squirt, i do not go to the bathroom excessively maybe once every 4-6 hours, depends on how much liquids i drink. pretty soon i’m gonna be buying girls panty liners and i so don’t want to do that obviously, i read about Urinary Incontinence in Men and it doesnt seem to fit: diabetes; no, Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis; no, Overactive bladder; no (urination eight or more times a day; no, the sudden, strong need to urinate immediately; no, urine leakage that follows a sudden, strong urge to urinate; no), Spinal cord injury; no, benign prostatic hyperplasia; no, Radical prostatectomy; no, External beam radiation; no, basicly everything prostate is no. i do have a nerve desese: Monomelic Amyotrophy, it is rare and even more rare for white north amaricans like me, but as far as i know it only really effects the extemities, ex. mine has "plateaued" with only effecting my left arm past my elbow, mostly effecting my fingers. as far as i know Monomelic Amyotrophy doesnt effect the bladder.
I will repeat, the amount of times i urinate in a day is normal, not excessive
Since you do not fit the normal demographic – family history of Monomelic Amyotrophy (MMA) – nor the usual ethnicity, is it possible that your MMA was caused by a viral infection or spinal injury?
You are certainly correct, Monomelic Amyotrophy, Hirayama’s disease, Sobue or Juvenile Progressive amyotrophy doesn’t appear to have other symptoms that one sees in other motion disorders so loss of muscle tone in your bladder would be odd.
What seems to be happening is incomplete emptying. ‘I’m only familiar with this issue because my husband has PD and BHP. What we have found is that to expedite more complete bladder emptying, a urinal is out of the question. Sitting (back) and forcing the bladder to empty seems to help when he is not too impatient. In his case the problem is not leakage but having to go again within minutes. When he takes the time, the problem does not occur.
It may be that that urine is simply collecting in the widest part of your urethra and not being voided. You can help with your hand by using gentle pressure behind your scrotum to force out any remaining urine.
You can also try exercise to strengthen the pelvic muscles. Kegeling can be done anywhere as you tense, hold and relax your pelvic muscles. To be effective Kegeling should be done several time a day with at least 50 reps per session. You may not need it but it couldn’t hurt.
You know a lot about MMA so you also know that if you begin to add symptoms you need to revisit your diagnosis with your neurologist.

Will using an indwelling catheter and alpha blocker muscle relaxer cause incontinence?
I’ve read some confusing information, and deduced some uncertain information from it as well…
1. Will using an indwelling foley catheter cause urinary incontinence? After how long?
2. Will muscle relaxers cause the muscles to lose strength or effectiveness, especially alpha blockers and sphincters in the urinary tract and prostate?
3. Will the combination of the two above cause more likely and/or more rapid loss of effect of the sphincter muscles?
Ask the doc dude!
My cousin had a colonoscopy on the advice of his doctor, as he is over 50 years of age. Everything seemed to go well, no cancer etc. However the following day, he started to notice that he was leaking urine and could notControlol it. Six weeks later. it is even worse. I’m 55 and my doctor wants me to have a colonoscopy, I’ve put it off as I’m concerned after what happened to my cousin.
Is there any reason for this to occur? My cousin was in great health before and never had this problem
I do know that he is now seeing a urologist and apparently his prostrate is good. He is going for some more urology tests next week
Your cousin should consult a Urologist, I have never heard of a correlation between a colonoscopy and incontinence. I would wager your cousin has a prostrate problem like an enlarged prostrate or something in the urinary track causing the problem.
Why do women seem to experience bladder problems and incontinence more than men?
I can understand women experiencing bladder problems if they have been through childbirth. But I have never had a baby, yet I have had bladder problems before, including a small bladder infection a few months ago. And during my life, I have known female friends who have not gone though childbirth, yet had bladder problems or slight incontinence problems at some point or other.
Their urethra is much shorter than men’s and if bacteria enters it finds its way quickly into the bladder. Women should also wash after sex in case bacteria has found its way there.
i have urinary incontinence (and am a spritely 26!) and am looking for a decent brief or product to wear while i play sports. i have a good routine when i’m not active (usually wear molicare adult diapers), but when working out, i’d like to wear something more discrete and easier to change in and out of, especially in the locker room.
i live in ny, ny if that makes a difference.
I’m 18 and i’m just incontinent at night but i would try some molicare pull up diapers or something. My 11 year old brother is fully incontinent and he wears normal diapers, he doesent seem to have a problem with changing and things like that. Feel free to message me if you want
I’m particularly concerned about the traumatic aspect of it all and whether or not routine anal sex causes fecal incontinence down the road.
After extensive research, I come to conclude that the only thing wrong with anal sex is not getting any.
My dog is sick, and he’s getting an ultrasound today to try to see what is wrong, but I love that dog to death, so naturally I’m killing myself gathering information. The vet did a urine test on Tuesday afternoon and said that it didn’t look like an infection, and infections in males were rare, and there was some unusual cell activity. He put him on antibiotics anyway though for two weeks, cause it could still be that, he said. So we know nothing more than we did when we brought him in. :/ The following is a list of all his symptoms:
- Bloody urine. It’s not bright red and there’s not always blood, it’s mixed in with the pee and just sort of faintly salmon-colored, so there’s not a lot of it.
- Painful urination. When he squats down to pee he groans and grunts and sniffs intermittently.
- Frequent urination. He pees, then pees again. And again. And again. Sometimes it’s a proper pee, and sometimes very little comes out.
- Near incontinence. Occasionally he’ll drip little trails of urine when he’s just walking around or jumping onto the couch.
- Increased thirst. He heads straight for the water dish after he pees, and every time he passes it, and he never used to do this before. He also drinks for much longer periods of time than he ever used to. If I gave it a conservative guess, I’d say he’s drinking 3 times the water he used to.
- He’s constantly licking and nuzzling his genitals, and this is not normal behavior for him. And I do not say "constantly" lightly.
- Increased agitation. He just can’t sit still anymore, he’s always standing up and circling around just to plop right back where he was, or moving from sitting to lying down, or curled up to stretched out, or at the other end of the couch, or whatever. And after he’s done about every position he can think of, he’ll get back up to pee again.
- Straining to urinate. He squats down and stays there for a very, very long time now. It’s gotten slowly longer and longer. He sometimes pees in short bursts, especially if he’s just got a smallish amount.
And in the past few days he’s been a little trembly and weak, which may be more pain, or the antibiotics, or canine parkinsons, who knows what. I don’t think he’s got fever, but we don’t have a thermometer. I think that’s it.
So what I’ve read all says the same thing, and both conditions have basically the same symptoms. I think that he has more stone symptoms, but that’s likely something I’ve tricked myself into believing just because I hope it’s true. What do you think?
I think you need to leave the guessing alone and wait until your vet has done all the testing he needs to do, to get a complete picture. It does sound, to me, as if he may well have bladder stones, and this needs treating asap as eventually in the male, he will block up (it’s because of the bone in the male penis). It should be comparatively simple to scan his bladder to find out, or even run a catheter in to see if it passes smoothly, or ’scrapes’. Poor boy, he sounds as if he’s very uncomfortable, so you have done right to get him into a vet. If you don’t get the answers you are looking for, get a second opinion/switch vets. But I’m sure he’ll get to the root of what’s going on.
Hopefully it’s not cancer, but again, he’s elderly, and who knows. And make sure he checks his prostate too, although this is more likely to affect him passing a stool, than urine (from my experience – with 2 elderly males we had).
ps Much as it’s tempting, try to stay away from Internet research! It will scare you to death (been there!) – a little learning ………. and all that!
i am a 20 year old male
fairly healthy. average consistent diet.
but anyway, each day is different sometimes i have to go really bad and cant go. (this is all #1) others it just……………….goes whenever! and others it goes and goes and goes. and as of today i now wear diapers 24/7 just incase.
i refuse to go to the doctors. needles, waiting forever, cold air, money, needles and just bad childhood experiences…………………with needles.
is there a simple non invasive way to fix this?
Your not too young, im 17 and i still wet the bed and my 10 year old brother is fully incontinent so he wears diapers 24/7. But there could be many different medical reasons for this. You should at least talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks.
Can you develop incontinence from being hit in the bladder/penis region?
Could you develop incontinence from being hit by an object in the general area of the penis/bladder? I recently tripped and landed in this area on the edge of the table and i can no longer feel the urge to pee until really late. (happened less than 24 hours ago)
If the blow was as bad as you say it was, it is possible for there to be problems with the bladder. You really need to check with a doctor to see if this is just a temporary thing or if this will be permanent.
I have been having slight incontinence for some time now. I’m only eighteen, and my mother doesn’t think anything is wrong. I’ve looked up the systems for incontinence, and it looks like I have it. But I would like to know how I got it and what I can do to try and treat it. It has put a damper on my life because when I leak, i start to smell of urine. Please help. Thanks.
there is a lot that can be done to help you. see a doctor who will refer you to see a uroligist. you will be tested in various ways to see why this is happening. there is medication and surgery which can cure this.
theres no need to worry you are not alone.
