One of the most worrying aspects for male incontinence is that most men are unaware of the treatments that are available to them. Because male incontinence can be such an embarrassing problem, most men do not seek any help and therefore do not understand that it is in fact treatable. In the United States alone, approximately 5 million men suffer from this disability and out of that number only 10% seek treatment.

The treatment available include medication, surgical and self-treatment. Medication has a very small success rate. If you have received medication for your incontinence problem then you may be familiar with the drugs Detrol, Tafranil,Emselex, and Duloxetine. Many of these drugs have widespread side effects and rarely work because they are designed to suppress incontinence, not cure it. Some of these drugs even weaken the nerve signal so there are no contractions in the bladder; others slow down the rate at which urine is produced, and others interfere with your prostate – which is definitely NOT a good idea.

Surgical treatment is not much better. Doctors will be quick to recommend this treatment to you, yet the research suggest that the results do not support this is decision. In fact surgery can actually make things worse for you and increase your level of incontinence.

The most significant treatment by far has been shown to be self-treatment. Self-treatment involves working from the inside out unlike conventional medicine which works from the outside only. Statistics from self-treatment have shown improvement in 87% of cases, with relapse in the other 13% occurring because of the lack of adherence to the program.

Another huge benefit is that through self-treatment you do not have to tell anybody about your problem, and you can cure yourself whenever you want. There are zero side effects to self treatment and you can try it in the comfort of your own home. Whichever method you choose however, I would just urge you to try something. Don’t continue to live your life with this problem. Seek out help and you will earn that male incontinence is very treatable indeed.

Can a Princes Wand be used safely to assist with stopping urinary leakage from Stress Incontinence?

At first it seems like a better option than buying and using a clamp, or constantly using up my supply of pads.

(I already have a Prince Albert – though it came out a month and a half ago when I went into hospital and it’s gone down a few gauges since then)
The Stress Incontinence is due to Cauda Equina Syndrome, which became acute 6 weeks ago and was operated on 5 weeks ago (Laminectomy & Discectomy at L4/L5)..

I’ve been incontinent since a few days after the disc at L4/L5 popped out and wedged itself in my Cauda Equina (horse’s tail – the bundle of nerves that branches out in various directions into smaller bundles towards the bottom of your spine). The slide into retention and stress incontinence helped to confirm the diagnosis and I was referred to the neurosurgeon a day or two later. When it became acute, and over the six days that followed until the op, I lost most feeling and a fair bit of muscle control in all the areas served by those nerves, which is almost everything below the waist/abdomen except the front of my legs. This includes incontinence at both ends, constipation, no sexual functions, next to no balance, and a whole lot of numbness, I also can’t urinate normally, in that I can’t voluntarily relax my bladder and le

You might want to try since you already have the piercing……..of course, you probably only want a short one for all-day use…………and I’d guess it will still leak. DOn’t know how bad your problem is – if really bad, your Doc can probably fix you up with controllable catheters.

Apple cider vinegar! put down baking soda on the spot and that pour about a cup on. Yes it makes a pretty non harmful chemical reaction and that reaction will help eliminate the odor. you can also use this in the litter box as well. iv also found lemon juice and baking soda helpful. i have also used a dog urine remover. its stronger. with 5 cats iv tried everything and found its the simple home remedies that work best and are the most inexpensive. good luck to you

I adopted my male manx back in sept. He went through a few different ailments, including a UTI, which I had him treated for. One thing though. He pees in his sleep. I first thought he was just doing it as a behavioural thing, but as of late he has been doing in in front of me, so I’ve noticed he isn’t doing it on purpose…For example..Seconds ago, we were sitting on my bed and he was asleep…I smelled urine, and sure enough….he peed on my bed AND on me. I love the little bugger and he has an UH-MAZING personality. I’m not in any rush to be rid of him, but I am a student and having a cat with a serious issue is really stressing me out. I want him to be happy and healthy, but I also want my bank account to not suffer a beating from the vet bills and I also would like to be able to sleep without plastic over my mattress. I would just really like to know what can be done, (later on) if anything…Because once I graduate in April, I’m fully prepared to dish out money to have this problem fixed. Other than this little problem, he’s extremely happy, playful, eats, drinks and uses the litterbox at any other time.

Manx and tail-less cats are difficult cats to own. Due to the lack of tail muscles, they do tend to have a lot of bowel/urine problems like your poor baby has. It takes a lot of special care with completely tail-less cats.

I’d talk it over with your vet to see what all can be done for him.

My mom (mid-50s) has had this and it has not been the best. She’s had surgeries and medication, but still has big issues with her bladder capacity. I also talked with a woman whose daughter had it, and said it was a colostomy bag. So I doubt your doctor is correct, but maybe it’s a newer medication? If it works, please email me and I’ll let my mom know about it.

My dad is driving my mother up the wall. I have recently returned home after graduating from college, and I can see why he would be. My father is an old old man. I could be his grand daughter as far as age is concerned.
1. Anyway he isn’t an invalid, he just retired from teaching at the college level a few months ago. But the problem is he wears male incontinence pads but he’ll only change them once a day after he takes a shower at night. So what I am saying is he stinks! He knows he smells, and even when my mother or I say something to him he gives this blank stare like "so what". It is very frustrating. We cant blame it on him being indifferent after retiring because he has been this way about changing his "pads" since I can remember.
2. He was hospitalized in april because he wasn’t monitoring his blood sugar. He even missed my graduation from his alma mater because of this (my mother made it though). Anyway he hasn’t driven since before his hospital stay. He may be better but he is not a well man. His reaction is slower, and motor skills are overall on a decline. He doesn’t need to be driving. A friend of his called and I assume he told my dad he had some sweet potatoes he could have (my dad normally makes sweet potato pies for everyone). We are on a strict budget because of his retirement and hospital bills so we don’t waste gas. When we leave the house we do everything that we need/want all in one swoop. He asks my mother (rudely) whether she would have time to go pick up some sweet potatoes. She said maybe tomorrow. He gets mad and says to "move the cars around so i can drive the truck my damn self". WTF? Thank goodness my mom couldn’t move one of the cars out of the way cuz it wouldn’t start. She tells him and he makes the "whatever face". Needless to say he didn’t go get the potatoes and i dont think my mother will tomorrow either.

Its not just the potatoes or the urine smell. He is my daddy and can be nice and sweet and chalk full of wisdom but also can be rude, and quite unnecessarily mean. I feel like i am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Its not "really" my place because it is between my parents, but i do live here for now and its just getting worse and worse. Help…

Your description of the change of personality, with your dad, is exactly how my husband had acted
for the last two years. I have noticed lately, he is mellowing a bit, but his memory is really bad now.
I have pointed out his forgetfulness, of so many things of late, and he’s in denial, and doesn’t want
to be told what he doesn’t believe, that I believe is true. Although he can remember occasions he
just puts them in the wrong year, and location. So it begins with little things. He too, suddenly looks
more aged, and drawn in his face. He walks bent over favoring his lower back and knees. because
he gets aggravated so easily, I’ve asked him to talk with his doctor about getting something for his
anxiety. But he denies he needs anything. So I often walk on eggshells around him, for fear he’ll have a
tantrum of sorts, and come unglued.
I can only hold my tongue and be as pleasant as possible, and hope he will make a turn around
one of these days. I hope he will return to me mentally, and we can be in harmony again.

How can I stop it?

This is very embarasing and I always gte my boxers slightly wet and i feel really uncomfortable in college.I have deep emotional provlems if that is of any help to know.I have no other known illnesses exept mental and tremendous stress in my every day life.

Best ask the doctor that question because it could be a serious medical issue.

I’m a 55 year old male and suffer from urinary incontinence and have had to resort to wearing adult diapers 24/7. I miss being able to go out on dates with the opposite sex, but at the same time I’m scared about the reaction I may get when a woman finds out that I have to wear diapers. Any suggestions as to what or how I should tell them beforehand?

If you trust and respect her the best way to tell her is to just set her down and take a deep breath before telling her maybe try and make a little joke about it to relax her in dealing with the situation. Try not to label yourself or let it get in the way of you dating and finding someone to share your life with. You will find some one who loves you and the best time to tell is probably after you have dated just a bit and you have an open trust with each other!

Also I found these sites that might help!
