Bladder problem?
When I get up in the morning with a full bladder, I find it hard to empty without bearing down. It gets better during the day but I often have to wait a few seconds before the flow starts. Any advice please? I am a 64 year old female. All I can find on the internet is about incontinence or prostate problems which affect only males
It is possible you may have some vaginal prolapse. Although prolapse more commonly causes incontinence, it can cause problems starting to pass urine or cause symptoms of feeling you are not emptying the bladder properly.
Another problem may be constipation as the first answerer says. An over full bowel causes some ’squashing’ of the bladder and makes it more difficult to urinate.
I would recommend a trip to your Dr for a diagnosis as there are treatments that can help.
Good luck

Chronic constipation can cause pressure on the urethra (the tube from the bladder) and cause the result you describe.
Please go and see your Doctor, though, because you may have a womb problem, again causing pressure on the urethra. Your doc will examine you and probably refer you for some thing called ‘urodynamics’, which are tests done as an outpatient. These tests will determine your bladder capacity and urine flow.
